Orthobiologics

Setting a new standard for patient care, Kayal Osteoarthritis & Orthobiologics Center stands on the cutting edge of regenerative medicine. Orthobiologics is an advanced field in which human growth factors and proteins are used to stimulate tissue healing and regeneration. Used in patients dealing with osteoarthritis, sports injuries, chronic joint pain, and other orthopaedic conditions, these naturally occurring biomaterials—like bone marrow aspirate, platelet rich plasma / autologous conditioned plasma, and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein (rhBMP)—can relieve pain, reduce swelling, and restore mobility. In some cases, orthobiologics may be used to put off or eliminate the need for more invasive surgical procedures and joint replacements.

Since orthobiologics got its start, Dr. Robert A. Kayal, MD, FAAOS and his surgical team have been using these non-operative methods with great success. While orthobiologics is still a relatively new area of study, clinical research is continually discovering new ways to implement these advanced treatments.

Dr. Robert A. Kayal, MD, FAAOS and the team at Kayal Osteoarthritis & Orthobiologics Center specialize in the use of non-invasive biologic therapies for patients suffering from sports injuries, osteoarthritis, chronic joint pain, musculoskeletal injuries, diabetic ulcers, non-healing wounds, and more. Orthobiologics offer a “fast track” to healing and pain relief, and have proven successful for hundreds of patients.

Orthobiologics are cellular therapies used in place of or in conjunction with other therapies and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In some cases, biologics even allow patients to delay or eliminate the need for surgical intervention. Injected or grafted into damaged and diseased areas, biologics work by harnessing the body’s ability to regenerate cells for tissue healing and injury rehabilitation. Pioneering the use of orthobiologics within New Jersey and the surrounding area, Dr. Kayal and his surgical team are on the cutting edge of these innovative procedures.
